ECLC prides itself on it's unique and exciting programs and activities.  There are numerous after-school activities and respite weekends at both our campuses.  Activities include bowling, trips to the shopping malls, sporting events, movies, restaurants, prom night and scouting.  At our Chatham campus, an after school care program is offered Monday through Thursday from 3 pm- 5pm.  Chatham also sponsors an evening basketball clinic during the months of January through March. At our HoHoKus campus, CARE (Creative After School Recreational Experience) program runs October 16th through May 28th, on Mondays and Thursdays.

ECLC HoHoKus uses the SCERTS framework in all of its classes.  SCERTS is an acronym for Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support.  It has enhanced our approach in providing a nurturing and supportive atmosphere.  The HoHoKus campus is the first school in NJ to formally train every staff member and integrate SCERTS into the daily life of the school.

Each week Kathy Santo of "Paws Four Autism" and her trainers provide each HoHoKus classroom with a 45-minute dog therapy session.  In addition, students from the lower cluster classes are bused weekly to Rainbow Reins Therapeutic Riding Stable for a session on horseback riding and horse grooming.

As of January 2009, the Ho-Ho-Kus Campus welcomed the arrival of our new service dog, Patrina.  She came to us from Canine Companions for Independence who trained her for facility placement.

Patrina assists during the school day for a variety of educational purposes, including motivational, emotional, OT, PT, speech and emotional regulation.  Patrina has already become a valued member of our school community creating a strong bond with both students and staff.
