  • Paraprofessionals—The Chatham and Ho-Ho-Kus schools are seeking caring staff members to work one-on-one with students throughout the school day. Candidates should possess a high school degree; and experience working with individuals who have special needs is a plus.
  • Substitute Teachers— Both schools are also hiring substitute teachers with a County Substitute Certificate or a New Jersey teaching certificate.
  • Job Coaches— The Ho-Ho-Kus school is looking for job coaches to work with students who are nearing graduation to help prepare them for adulthood. Candidates must possess a high school degree; and experience working with individuals who have special needs is preferred.

Transition Employment Specialist

ECLC affiliate, Community Personnel Services, Inc. (CPS), is a nonprofit agency providing services to students and adult clients for more than 25 years. CPS provides transition services to students from private and public schools in Morris, Essex and Bergen counties. Transition Employment specialists combine their experience, knowledge, training and advocacy to help individuals and families create person-centered, viable transition/employment plans. Transition Employment specialists assist individuals in reinforcing skills, teaching new skills and developing a resume, conducting successful job interviews and completing applications. They work side-by-side with the individual at their job site to ensure their tasks are manageable and that they are successful employees.

Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must have the ability to multitask and adhere to transition timelines in order to provide comprehensive transition outcomes for each student. This includes but is not limited to attending IEP’s; assisting with post-graduation funding; accessing community resources, transportation, vocational or habilitation program opportunities.
  • Must have the ability to work with students and clients to locate competitive employment opportunities based on their preferences, skills and abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills are needed to interact effectively with clients, families and community providers.
  • Travel required in Bergen, Essex, Union and Sussex counties. CPS provides company-shared cars, but employees must use their own reliable vehicle, if a car is not available (mileage is reimbursed).
  • A good driving record, proof of automobile insurance and auto registration are required.
  • Candidates must pass CPS background checks, including State CARI check.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in vocational, social services, social work, psychology, special education or a related field. Associate degree is considered with experience in these fields.
  • Minimum of one year documented experience working with individuals with disabilities. Benefits include:

Full-Time RN in Morris PRIDE

We are seeking an RN with a big heart, a cool head and a desire to work in a job that is enormously gratifying and fun at our PRIDE day program for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities! You will oversee clients’ general wellness, while at program.  You will be an assessor of health needs, provider of first aid, soother of aches and pains, dispenser of medications and performer of other essential nursing functions.  All of this while teaching clients to manage their health independently to the best of their abilities. 

You will also serve families by assisting them in advocating for the best care of their loved ones and train PRIDE staff in how to meet the clients’ day-to-day medical needs. This job allows you to practice nursing at its finest and be an important part of a management team.

    • Experience providing nursing care to individuals with developmental disabilities
    • BSN preferred
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative

Other Entities Controller

Our affiliated nonprofit organizations serving adults with special needs is seeking a skilled controller to manage financial records, ensure compliance with regulations, and support the organization’s overall financial health. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students and clients. The full-time role includes Community Personnel Services, Inc. (CPS); the PRIDE adult day program; and the ECLC Foundation, which is our fundraising arm. The position is available immediately (pending criminal history clearance requirements) and reports to the Chief Financial Officer. It offers a competitive salary and generous benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and 403(b) retirement

  • Responsibilities:
    • Supervise accounting staff (AR, AP and Payroll) for timely and accurate financial functions and be as backup when needed.
    • Manage multiple revenue sources, including Medicaid funding in two of the organizations.
    • Ensure precision in intercompany transactions, fixed asset schedule, 990 filing, and various other schedules.
    • Assist with ongoing major functions and requirements within the Finance/Accounting area, including:
      • Budgets, Audit statements, schedules and preparation
      • Quarterly close and preparation of financial statements
      • Conducts bank reconciliations for review by Chief Financial Officer
      • Training of department personnel during new system implementation and/or transition of positions. 
      • Pension census. Prepares data for annual compliance testing and calculations.
    • Handle all other duties or special projects as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Chief Financial Officer/Business Manager.
  • Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
    • Minimum of five years accounting experience, with a minimum of three years in supervisory capacity.
    • Strong computer, oral, written and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and MS Office, especially Excel.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
